After I made that draft invitation to Lizzie's party shown in the last post, I got to thinking that maybe the photo wasn't right for it. I showed it to my mother-in-law who suggested that maybe if I could get the lollipop stick out of the photo it would be better. As it so happened, Amanda Taylor had just put a tutorial on removing unwanted objects on her blog. I knew about the clone tool but her tut really helped me understand it better. And, I didn't know about the healing brush at all! So, here are the results (original, lollipop removed and photo blended to remove most of the background, final blend into a pink background):
